Potty Training Already??!?

OK, this is going to seem really weird to most of you :) haha! Here in South Asia most babies are potty trainied by the time they are one... yes, I did say one :) This is what they do: When the child can sit up (with support) then they will start the training. They figure out when the baby goes to the bathroom (ie - right after a nap, after eating, etc)... and put them on the toilet at that time and say something (like "shushu" - the Hindi word for pee... nice hunh? or make a shhhhhh sound). You keep them on the toilet until they pee (up to 15 minutes or so)... Anyway, supposedly by doing this, the baby is potty trained by one!

So we're attempting it... The first time we put her on the toilet, it took about 10 minutes, but now she goes almost immediately after we put her on. She always smiles really big after she goes too - I think she's really proud of herself :) It will be interesting to see if it works. We took this pic (below) just for fun - haha!

Go for it! But, if she potty trains now, will you get your $$$ out of the Bum Genius? The South Asia method of potty training sounds better than our lovely East Asia one that involves letting the child run around in split pants and go to the potty on the floor of your house, your neighbor's or the supermarket...

no toliet needed here, just squat while holding the child's legs apart, and then whistle. it doesn't matter where you are you can just do it anywhere. we hope it goes well for you!

Holy Cow! I will be so jelous if that works. He he he... I can't say that i've ever heard of it. But if it works that's great! Wow! She looks so little on that potty. That's cool that she goes for ya though. I'm impressed. I can't wait to hear more about that.

I have heard of this - one of my friends here is actually trying it with her son. So far things seem to be working well. It does take time though I'm sure! You will do great! The pictures are too cute - her facial expression in the first one is like - "Uh oh what is going on here.."

Awesome! That's one thing
i have no clue about here...how do they potty train??? Question...when there's a squatty potty and the kid can't stand (and therefore can't squat) do they still try it? or do parents just hold the baby over it?

I think this is a great idea! In fact, I think I might start trying it with Josiah. It really does make sense. I can't wait to see if it works.

I think i've seen an article about that in Parent's magazine. Well, my 3 1/2 year old is only 2 1/2 years behind.... he had an accident yesterday. Anyway, she looks so small sitting on the potty, very cute!

this is the funniest thing I have seen all week. I am going to be falling asleep tonight, and then I will picture little aashini sitting on the potty (on, what is that? a swim tube?) and I will crack up laughing and not be able to sleep. I blame your daughter for my insomnia. So funny! :)

haha! no, not an innertube - Emily thought that too... it's a little toilet seat that fits over the regular toilet seat :)
