Silver Medal Winner!

A couple of weekends ago Diya had an awards ceremony.  They had a big Sports Day at school the week before, and the winners of the races got awards and medals :)
They started off the ceremony with a Taekwondo presentation.  It was super cute!!
They also did a yoga demonstration.
At the end of the demonstration, the yoga instructor stood in the middle and did a SUPER LONG hand stand... half of the time he had his legs in the air, and the other half, on his head!
It was pretty impressive!
Next was the awards!  Diya won the Silver Medal in the MasterChef Race!  :)
She was super proud to be standing there up on stage :)
Here she is after she got her medal :)  She thought it was awesome :)
Here she is leaving the stage... that's Ritu Ma'am with her... one of her teachers.
Here is Diya with her head teacher Sonal Ma'am :)  During the awards, we were sitting on the front row and Aashini was cheering and waving loudly!  It was super cute!!
Some of the other races were funny!!  The Debang Race...
I'm not sure which race this was, but all the kids had mustaches (even the girls!)
Aashini was dying to get up on stage!  After it was all over, she ran up on stage and we took her picture :) haha!
Diya with her Silver Medal!!!
... and another picture of Diya with her medal :)
... and one more :) haha! :)
Way to Go Diya!!!! :)

Here's a video of Diya getting her award... it's not the best video... i was trying to take pictures and video at the same time! haha!  It's not the best, but it's pretty cute :)
(they announce Diya's group while the other kids are still on the stage - the beginning of the video).

Aashini is 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Aashini is 5 now!!!!  I can't believe she's 5 already!!!  This year, her birthday stretched over a whole week :) haha!  She got to celebrate in a bunch of different ways :)
The night before her birthday, we were at a meeting with a bunch of friends, so we brought a cake and she got to celebrate with those friends :)
She was so cute and a little shy when everyone started singing to her :)  It was cute :)
She liked getting to blow the candles out... but she wasn't the best at it...
... she needed some help :)
Aashini cut the first slice (South Asian Style :))
She had so much fun with her friends :)
At school on her birthday she got to wear whatever she wanted (didn't have to wear her uniform).  She wore her purple party outfit (in the pic at the top) and brought gifts to her friends at school... (Here, on your birthday, you give gifts to your friends :)).  She LOVED it and had a great time!  She got to go shopping and spend some Birthday money too on one of the days :)  She had a great Birthday :)
Here's a video of the Birthday song... you can see how shy Aashini was when everyone was singing to her :)
If you want to see Aashini's Older Birthday posts... here ya go!

Aashini's 4th Birthday (I'm going to go back and post on this one... her 4th Birthday party was on the day my Meniere's Disease started, so I never ended up posting on it)

Diya's First Haircut!!!

Last night we were at the mall and I found a cute hair salon for kids!  Aashini really needed a trim and so did Diya... so we took them there :)   It was a super cute place!!!  It was called Fuzzy Hare :)  They had cars for the kids to sit in and TVs for them to watch!  The TVs were a great idea because they kept their heads straight and still :) haha!!  :)  It was a really fun place!

Diya was super excited to get her first haircut :)  It was funny to hear some of the different "hair vocabulary" that they used.  They asked if we wanted to give Diya "Fringe"... we finally figured out that Fringe meant Bangs :)
 Diya felt cool :)
She didn't like the blow dryer though :) haha!  It was her first experience with a blow dryer :)
She was so proud of herself :) haha!  She was too cute! :)
The finished (and slicked over) product! :)
This place was great :)  They had awesome and comfortable chairs to sit in while we waited :)
They put fun clips in their hair too :)  It was cute! :)
They aren't used to dealing with curly hair, so they dried Aashini's hair straight.  It was fun to see what it looked like.  She didn't like the hair dryer either (her first experience with a hair dryer too :) haha!)
They had awesome tables and coloring books for Diya to play at while she waited for Aashini to finish :)  This hair studio also does Birthday parties! They will do hair styling and braiding, do their nails give them tiaras and all kinds of fun things for the kiddos :)  Fun idea! :)
Here's Aashini getting her hair clips :)
Here's Aashini's hair!  Look how straight it is!   By the time we got home, it was starting to curl again... and when she woke up this morning it was fully curly again :) haha! :)
 Here's the final product :)
