PTM and a "Crisp Skit"

Aashini had a PTM (Parent-Teacher-Meeting) last month.  They usually do a small presentation during the PTM.  It's cute :)  Here's Aashini with her teacher and a couple of her classmates.  Her teacher has been great!!

Storytelling Competition - Diya

Diya had a Speaking Competition a couple of weeks ago.  It was a Storytelling Competition.  All of the kids got to pick out a story and tell it.  Diya told "Jesus Calms the Storm".  

She did great!  She wasn't afraid at all.  She got up there and owned the stage :) haha!

After everyone was done speaking, the judges tallied the scores.  While they were doing that, the kids did a dance. 

 Diya had so much fun doing it!! :)

 Diya's buddy Yathach  (on the far right), was not interested in doing the choreographed dance... so he made up his own dance....

Freedom Fighter - Rani Lakshmibai

The other week at school, the kids were supposed to come to school dressed like a Freedom Fighter.  We decided to dress Aashini up as the super cool Rani Lakshmi Bai!   Doesn't she look tough?! :)

This is a picture of the original Rani Lakshmi Bai.  She was a queen and one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857.  She is a symbol of resistance to the rule of the British East India Company.  

Aashini LOVED getting to dress up like her and speak about her at school.  

 So tough!! 

 Whenever Rani Lakshmibai is pictured, she always has on men's clothes and has her adopted son tied to her back.  So, Aashini just had to have a baby on her back! :)

 The day that Aashini did this, Diya had her speaking competition, so we saw her at school when she was going to the computer lab :)

PTM - Parent Teacher Meeting - Aashini

Aashini had a PTM a couple of weeks ago (Parent Teacher Meeting).  They did it a little differently this time.  Half the class came at once and the kids did a small presentation for the parents.

 This is Aashini's teacher - Harveen Ma'am.

 Here they are doing the presentation.  A couple of kids read out questions, and the kids sitting on the front row answered the questions.  Aashini was in charge of telling them if their answer was right or wrong.  If it was right she gave them a "smiley". :)

First Day of First Grade! - Aashini

This week was Aashini's first week of FIRST GRADE!  Whoa!  The school year here begins in April.  Aashini was very excited to start First Grade :)    Here is Aashini's weekly schedule:

Aashini is 5 now years old and loves to color and draw!  She is very creative and curious about everything :)

Aashini gets to wear the "big kid" uniform now :)  We got the uniform without her being there... so it's way too big, but she doesn't care :)

First Day of Nursery - Diya!

  Yesterday was Diya's first day of Nursery (Pre-K).  Here's her pic on her first day!  I also interviewed her and asked her what some of her favorite things were and here they are!

Diya hasn't learned to write yet, but I asked her to write her name:

It was the day before Choti Holi, so they played Holi at school on her first day.  Here is Diya showing Adam her Star for being good on her hand... but I think it looks like she's threatening to punch him :) haha!

Diya after her first day of school!  She had a great time.  She has 2 really awesome teachers this year :)  I'm excited :)

And just for comparison ... :)  Here are Aashini and Diya at the same age (Aashini was 2 weeks older) and on the first day of Nursery :)  I think Aashini was a little taller and her feet were definitely bigger (Diya is wearing Aashini's old shoes and they are HUGE on her!!) :) haha!

Diya is going to learn to write her ABCs this year (as well as many other things).  She's really excited :)

Aashini made Adam out of play-dough the other day :)  I thought it was cute :)

 After Diya's school photoshoot this past weekend, we went up to Aashini's class for a second and she showed us her class quickly.  I thought this class poster was fun :)  It's all the kids in her class :)
