32 Week Ultrasound!

So when I went to the doctor this last week, I told her about all my aches and pains and all my swelling... She was a little concerned about all the swelling (Feet, Ankles, Legs, Knees, Back, etc)... and she said (when she felt my stomach) that the baby felt a little small... SOOOOO... that means I got to take a whole bunch of tests! I did all the glucose tests, a bunch of blood tests, and I got an ultrasound (my next one wasn't supposed to be until 35 weeks, so that was a fun surprise :)

The only problem with the ultrasound was that the baby was big, and they were doing a special kind of ultrasound (where they were mostly testing the blood flow of all the major veins and the umbilical cord and things like that.... so I really couldn't tell what on earth was on the screen.... and neither could Adam...

When Adam saw the picture on the right (below) during the ultrasound, he asked the doctor: "Are those the baby's teeth"... he laughed a little and said: "No, it's the spinal cord" - then Adam said... "This is my first baby, can you tell?" and everyone started cracking up :)
OK, so the pic below isn't very easy to see or understand what's going on... BUT it shows that my placenta is in the right place!!! whoo hoo!!!! I don't have a "low-lying placenta" anymore! yeah!!!
So we got all the tests back and no signs of pre-eclampsia!! whoo hoo! So she said for the swelling, not to eat really salty foods, rest and prop up my feet :) The blood tests on the other hand said I am a little Anemic... My hemoglobin was 9 and it's supposed to be 12-14.... sooo... I'm taking more iron and eating things with more iron... The cool thing is that my doctor told me to eat this sweet (गुड) that we have here that looks like brown sugar b/c it has a lot of iron - Dude! What a cool Doctor! :)

I am so excited that everything is ok! Did they give you an estimate on weight? With Eden they did all these crazy blood tests on me because they thought I had gestational diabetes, but everything turned out to be fine- she was just a big ol girl! You know me, I was scanning those pics for some evidence, but I'm like Adam- I mean, I know they aren't teeth, but that's about all I can identify!! ha! So glad you are ok and trusting that Dad will keep you and Jellybean safe until delivery day! Love you all!

They said right now Jellybean is 4.1 lbs... The stomach area was about 4-5 days behind, but the doc said that was probably because of the anemia - AND all the blood tests and glucose tests came back completely normal - which means - lots of sugar for me!! :) haha!

Good news about the placenta!! :) 4 lbs already????? That's awesome! You are going to give birth to a full grown toddler! HA! I can't wait to see what this little dude is going to look like. I am so glad that everything checked out ok. I had all the same swelling when I had #1. But everything was fine. I am going to have a little talk with Dad and see if I can't get him to provide you with some relief!

If I were there I'd give you a high-5 for your high placenta! (I know, I'm such a dork)...so salty food WAS the culprit...looks like Ronald McDonald took down another unsuspecting pregnant lady:) At least ALL tasty foods aren't restricted...woohoo for sweets!

Is the sweet really called "good"? That makes me laugh.

I wish they would have taken more tell-tell pics...I so would have cheated and looked. :) 4 lbs is the perfect size, it must be a relief not to have to worry about birthing a giant baby. :)

I'm so glad that you and Jellybean are okay. I know it feels like these last few weeks are going to crawl by, but enjoy it. Enjoy being able to sleep in, try to spend some extra time with Adam and take some time for yourself. Once the little one comes all those things will be much harder to accomplish! Can't wait to see you're sweet little boy! : )

hahahahahahahaha! That is so funny that Adam thought the spinal cord was the baby's teeth! I cracked up about that. :oD Fun times....
