Fun!

Aashini loves to have fun! What kid doesn't right? One thing she LOVES to do is to dress up! She loves it! We got her some butterfly wings when we were in Thailand and gave them to her a few days ago. She thought they were awesome!
She ran all around the house saying "butterfly" over and over!
The wings aren't always enough though :) haha! She added some boas to her dress-up... as well as her favorite - flip-flops! That's my girl!! She has trouble with the letter "F", so she usually calls them "Whop-Whops" - I love it :)
She looks a little guilty in this pic, it made me laugh :)
Aashini also has fun doing other random things... you can see in the video below:
Don't ask about her outfit :) She was out with Adam & had an "accident" :)
Now this pic (below) is blurry (this girl does not stay still for more than a second!) - but she is making a really funny face :) I thought I'd post it :)
Have a fun day! :)

A Little Bit of This & That!

Aashini has been talking up a storm lately. It's so cute to hear her talk. She's even been putting words together lately. She likes to point to something and say: "Ball, it's a ball". It makes me laugh :)
Parenting is a funny thing. There are definitely many strong opinions out there about how things should be done. South Asians are no different from Americans in that aspect. It's pretty interesting to see some of the parenting advice we get or things we see that are typically done here. One thing that is interesting to me is that most kids aren't really disciplined until they are about 6 years old! They don't like kids to cry, so they'll give them anything they want and wait to discipline until they are older.
Another interesting thing is that most kids are hand-fed until they are around 4 years old! You can see in the picture below the Ayah (nanny) on the left is feeding the little girl. She was over 3 years old and was being hand-fed her entire meal - and she was eating pizza! haha! Aashini was very intrigued.

And, on another random note... here's a very unflattering picture of me playing Wii ... I can't think of a better way for a pregnant girl to play - I was pretty comfortable :) haha!

Anyway, that's just a little bit of this and that for now :)

Little Model :)

Aashini had her first photoshoot this weekend :) She got the opportunity to take some pictures for a National kids clothing store chain - Lilliput. We thought it would be fun and Aashini LOVES trying on new clothes, so we thought we'd give it a try :)
I took a few pics but they aren't that great - the lighting was low and I couldn't use a flash or get to the same angle as the photographer. Once the pics are published then they'll give us copies of the pics so I'll post more then :)
Aashini had a BLAST! She was quite the ham!
The only problem with the shoot was that it was for their Winter Clothing Line and we're in South Asian in the summer :) haha! This shoot was inside, so it wasn't too bad, but still really hot!
Aashini loved all the attention :) haha!
She took a few pictures with our friend Oksana. She's from Turkmenistan and was in a few pictures to pose as a "mother".
I thought she looked a lot like Wonderwoman...
Aashini was there by herself in the morning for the shoot and later that day some other kids came for the shoot. She LOVED getting to pose with the other kids!
When the other parents were there it was quite funny to watch them and all the people working with the shoot trying to get the small kids to smile - hilarious!
The pics Aashini took (besides the solo shots) were mostly taken with this little girl - Sophia. They had fun taking pictures together.
They had Aashini take a lot of pics with this crib. She LOVED climbing in and out of it over and over. One time she flipped over in it - it was pretty funny. She thought it was fun and I thought it was fun that I caught it on camera :)
Some of the outfits had so many parts to them (Wool tights, pants/skirt/dress, shirt, sweater, etc..) but this one was the most colorful (stripes, polka-dots, flowers, etc) - it was cute :)
We weren't sure if Aashini would like it or not, so we weren't sure if we'd stay very long, but she really had a blast.
I think she liked all the attention :)

Ultrasound!!

I haven't been the best at posting lately - sorry! Here's a few pics and a video from the 20 week ultrasound :)
This picture was to show that Pop Rock has all 5 fingers on that hand :)Pop Rock is pretty flexible :) She has her foot touching her forehead :)
Here's a 3D picture - I always think they're a little weird looking... but they're fun :) This picture makes it look like he has elf ears - haha!
... and here's a short ultrasound video :)

So I've had a few people ask questions about baby stuff so I'll do a FAQ blog soon... so if you have any questions (where are we having the baby? How is it different here? Boy or Girl? etc...) Let me know! You guys ROCK!

Update Fun :)

I just realized that it's been over a week since I've updated this blog! Here are some pics from the last 2 weeks :)
Aashini is finally recovered from being sick. It ends up that she had a bad case of Roseola AND she had 2 cannaine teeth come in. When we were in Bangkok we took her to the doctor because she had had a very high fever for quite a few days and it wasn't going down. We took her to Bumrungrad hospital - one of the fanciest coolest hospitals ever! They took her blood and did a flu test while we were there. We thought we were going to have to wait a couple of days before getting the results, but they got our cell phone numbers and told us they would call us in an hour when the results were ready. We shopped and ate at the McDonald's & Au Bon Pain restrauants IN the hospital (there's a Starbucks and other awesome places too!!). They called in 30 min with our results!!! It was awesome :)
Here's a pic of Aashini (still sad) with her band-aid on her finger after giving some blood :(
Our friends the Gainors gave us a really fun care package when Gray came though the Capital a couple of weeks ago :) In that care package was a cool picture that their daughter Sarala drew for Aashini. We hung it on the fridge and Aashini loves it and points to it all the time! (The dress she's wearing is from them too!!)
We went to the market the other day - Adam needed a new pair of jeans. Aashini had fun in the shop with the measuring tape :) (this cute outfit is from the Gainors too!)After some marketing, we stopped by McDonald's. This has become one of Aashini's favorite places. She'll see it and say: "Donald's!!!" It's cute :) For some reason, Aashini is really scared of the grandma that lives upstairs from us. I always feel so bad because she always wants to see Aashini but Aashini is so scared of her. Hopefully that will change soon :)
This is a terrible picture (b/c it was dark in her room and I didn't want to use the flash and wake her) but I thought it was so funny the way she was sleeping. She sleeps in the funniest positions!
Aashini has really been enjoying playing with Play-Doh. She played with it for the first time in Thailand and loved it, so we've been having fun with it lately. She always wants me to make "snakes" for her out of the play-doh. What a funny kid - she really likes snakes ;)
We had our 20 week ultrasound the other day, so I'll be posting pictures of that soon :) Poor Pop Rock is getting neglected already :) Don't worry - he'll get some attention soon :) (or she :) I don't like to write he/she or it, so I just trade off he and she :))

Vacation - Swimming!

Aashini was pretty terrified of the water at first. When she was younger, she LOVED the water, but sometime between last summer and this summer, she became scared of the water - at least big pools. She still likes her kiddie-pool, but something about the "big pool" scared her....This pool was really cool. One end of it had a kiddie pool that was REALLY shallow - so shallow that she could stand up in it. We started her off with her "swimmies" but we ended up getting her a ring which she liked a lot better.
The first few days she liked to play "around" the pool more than in it. She found a racquet and a ball and had a blast!
She played with it like it was a field hockey stick :) haha!
The Slide!!! We took her on the slide on the 2nd day. She liked it, but was pretty scared.
Our 2nd to last day she decided that she LOVED the slide! She would say: "Slide! Slide!" and want to go down it all day! She loved it! I think Adam took her down the slide at least 100 times :) And despite her face in these pictures, she actually loved it!
Here's a slide video :)

Here's Aashini walking back to our bungalow after a morning of swimming :)
It was a great vacation!!

Vacation Fun!

Our vacation was great and I took about a million pictures of Aashini... so before I get to those pics, I thought I'd post a belly picture :) You can't actually see the size of my belly in this pic, but you can see my weird shirt :) haha!
19 weeks!
Aashini had so much fun playing with the Plumeria flowers that were all over the place...
Aashini was scared of the sand at first. It freaked her out to walk on it. After (sort-of) getting over her fear of the sand, she had a blast playing in it!
"smiling"
I liked this pic.... you can see the crazy sandbar that was in the ocean - it was huge!
Aashini LOVES Snakes! (or "Nakes" as she calls them). I don't think she's actually seen a real one yet, but she loves them in her books. We found a millipede on the road one day when we were walking and she thought it was a snake and was sooooo excited and kept yelling "NAKE! NAKE!!" :) It was cute :)
Playing in the sand before dinner... Adam says these shorts look like Jams - does anyone remember Jams? haha!
Aashini doing her "fish face".
Adam told Aashini to show her teeth and smile and this is what we got :)
I don't know why, but this picture makes me laugh :)
We had a very fun vacation :)
