CDC Family Picnic :)

Just before the weather started getting hot (I know! I waited too long to post it!), the kid's group at CDC (the chuch we go to) had a family picnic :)  Our girls LOVE picnics!  

 Aashini LOVES playing in the dirt and getting to eat lots of chips  and Diya loves getting a juice box :) haha!

 We had a lot of fun!  The kiddos had a lot of fun playing games.  Here they are playing Sharks and Minnows.

School Fun!

Aashini is back to school after a long summer break! She missed a few weeks of school, so she was a little behind when she got here, but she is almost caught up with everything :) She's learning to write all of her ABCs and numbers. She has homework about 3 days a week. She has a school presentation (speaking competition) coming up this Monday (don't worry, it will be well documented) :)

Anyway, after school when we (or one of us) picks up Aashini, we usually let her and Diya play at the school's outside play ground for a few minutes before taking her home (they have an inside playground too - it's really cool!!).

Diya loves it too! She can't wait until she's big enough to go to school!! :)

Tea Party!

In case you were wondering why I haven't posted much lately, we've moved! We don't have internet at our new house yet, so I'm at a coffee shop right now.

Anyway, the other day I walked into the living room and I see this:

I love that they're getting old enough to play together now! So cute!!!

Sliding at the Beach!

Whoever thought of putting a playground on the beach was a genius! What a great idea! My girls LOVE slides!! Diya has recently fallen in loves with slides. The minute she gets off she wants to get back on! Anyway, Aashini had a great time with the slides at the beach :)

We thought it would be fun to let the girls slide down together but Aashini didn't get it. She set up at the top with Diya and we kept telling her to slide down with her but it just wasn't computing :)

.... so she just pushed her down the slide first - haha! Diya had fun :)

Slides are very fun :) haha!

An Aashini Post :)

This post is all about Aashini :)

She likes to make pretend food a lot now. The other day she lined up a few stuffed animals and fed them - I thought it was cute :)

She likes tea parties (with juice :) - the girl loves juice!).

Aashini loves getting dressed up and dancing. Here she is dancing to "Go Tell it on the Mountain" haha! (if you can't see it, click here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-TcsAa10g8)

She loves to dress up!! She goes back and forth from wanting to be a princess and wanting to be a superhero/pirate :) This day she had a combo (check out the shoes) :) In this picture she's showing us the picture she just took on her camera :) haha!

Aashini still loves doing puzzles. Here she is at school one day when we went to pick her up... she wanted to show Diya her puzzles at school: )

Aashini LOVES being a pirate!! Here she is "playing pirate" with Adam and Joe. The newspaper is the pirate map :)

We were getting her dressed warm for sleeping (marble floors and cement walls make for a really cold house!) and she started dancing on the bathroom counter. She calls herself a "Dancer-lina" (She confused a ballerina and dancer) :) It's pretty repetitive but funny (to me anyway :))

Playin'!

The mall near our house has an outside play area that is open in the evenings. It's like a carnival because you have to pay for each ride you go on or each area you play in. We decided to let Aashini play here one night and she had a blast! The first thing she played on was a trampoline that had balls all over it! It was quite fun!! She thought it was awesome to fall into the balls :)

One thing Aashini has really been wanting to do is to drive the cars :) The cars are totally funny here!

You get into a car and a guy operates it by a remote control, but he has to stay right behind it - it's funny :) The funniest thing is that Aashini could still steer too, so the man is trying to make the car go right and Aashini is steering all crazy! haha! At one point he asked us to tell her not to steer :) haha! yeah, like an almost 3 year old is going to just sit in the car and not steer - haha! It was hilarious!

Aashini thought she was driving the car all by herself - it was so funny! :)

The last thing we did was let her drive boats :) They had these little motor boats in the fountain of the mall plaza - so funny!

For a while Aashini kept spinning in circles, but she got the hang of it and had a ton of fun :)

She loves playing!!!

Fun Weekend :)

This past weekend we went out to a mall we hadn't been to before. There's a city about 45 minutes away from us that has TONS of malls! This mall had an amazing play place! It had a HUGE arcade, bumper cars, carnival-type rides and a big play area with slides! Aashini was a little small for a lot of those things, but she LOVED the bumper cars! The balloon ride (below) was something she wanted to try :)At first she had a really intense face as we were riding...
...but then she LOVED it! :) It was a lot of fun!
Afterwards they played in a play area that was more Aashini's age. Both girls had a blast!
The next day after chuch, we went to the mall for lunch and then played at the play area there. It had this really fun waterbed thing to jump on :)
Aashini thought it was awesome :)
The girls sea-sawed together and Diya just laughed and laughed! Diya is soooo happy when she's around Aashini. She LOVES playing with Aashini and being around her - it's adorable!

All About Diya :)

Diya is growing up and getting big!! She loves to play! She loves dolls and talks to them and pokes at their eyes. She has this toy (shown above and below) that she used to lay under and look at or play with the toys. Now she likes to sit up and play with them :) Sometimes she'll grab onto one of the toys and lift her whole body up and slide under it - it's hilarious! I've yet to be able to get it on tape :)

Diya really likes to headbutt things! It's hilarious :) If we're sitting near her she will headbutt us. If there's something she likes, she'll headbutt it. She's hilarious. Anyway, here's a quick video of her playing with her toy and headbutting the toys :)

The other day Aashini had some little stickers... :)

Diya is a SUPER eater!!! She is always hungry and always wants to eat. We make our baby food here (because it's pretty easy to do, it's yummy and because I don't want to pay $5-8 a jar!) so after I make the food, I freeze it in ice cube trays. When Aashini was this age, she ate about 3 cubes per meal (about 3 a day)... Diya eats 6 and is still hungry afterwards! She loves food! Here's a picture of Diya with one of those mesh feeders with banana in it ;)

Diya is a lot of fun :) She's been saying "dada" a lot and she even says "Diya" at least once a day. I don't know if I can count those as first words yet but it's fun :)

Diya waves now too :) I haven't been able to get it on video just right yet, so I'll have to post a video of that later, but she'll wave both arms at the same time a lot too and she looks like she's flapping her wings - we call her "little butterfly" a lot :)

She LOVES bending her wrists. She does this funny thing.... she'll wave with the back of her hand over her mouth - it's funny - I can't explain it, so you can see it on video :)

Thailand Wrap Up :)

We're home from Thailand now and this is my last group of pictures I need to post :) While we were in Chiang Mai, Aashini got a lot of mosquito bites. They loved her. She's sort-of allergic to mosquito bites because when she gets them she gets HUGE red welts and they itch her like crazy - so much so that we have to put band-aids over them so that she can sleep. One day I put the bandaids on her at nap time and I look over and she had taken them all off an put them on her fingers :) haha!

I just thought this was a cute picture.

We took Aashini to one last "play place". Aashini and Diya rode together on one of the rides. Diya thought it was awesome! I love how she's holding onto Aashini's arm in this picture :)

Aashini LOVES slides!!! We don't have many where we live, so she really enjoyed all the fun slides in Thailand :)

When we were at a mall in Bangkok, Aashini was bored (we were waiting on a man to bring us something), so Aashini got in this box. Everyone thought it was so funny.

In our room in Bangkok there was a crib. Diya usually sleeps in a pack-n-play, so she hasn't had the bars of the crib before. She loved them and was always holding on to one while she was sleeping. It was cute and really made me laugh :)
