Funny Diya!

Diya "Speaking Hindi".  I'm not sure if she's really speaking Hindi or just saying some real Hindi with some "made-up words" mixed in, but she says it with such inflection (or drama) haha!  She cracks me up :) (oh, and we had just taken her hair down, that's why it looks crazy)...

 

Aashini Hindi Fun :)

Aashini LOVES learning Hindi.  This year at school she's starting to write in Hindi and I think it's her favorite subject.  She's even reading some in Hindi (not in English yet though... English is so confusing! haha!).  

Anyway, at night before bed we usually read them a Hindi book or two.  Aashini has memorized her favorite book... so, here is a video of her "reading" her favorite book :)

Here's a video of Aashini. She has a funny thing she likes to do... she likes to look sad and when you ask her what's wrong she'll give a big smile... so that's what's going on at the beginning of the video... then she does a Hindi poem, then she talks a little bit. At school if they are studying something, they usually write it on the kid's hands (I know... nice :))... so on this day it's special shapes... I got some boots for Aashini from another mother who's kid outgrew them. Aashini wore them for the first time the other day and she thought she was awesome :)

Poems!

Here is a short video of Aashini :) She can say the ABCs pretty well now, but if she gets hung-up on a letter she just says "X Y Z!!!" - it's funny :) She can also count to 20 in English and 15 in Hindi (but you'll only see her count to 2 in this video - haha!).... The main part of this video is Aashini doing 2 poems. They teach her how to do poems at school (they call them po-yums at school though - haha!) The first one is in English. It's called "Rolly Polly" (she only does one line of it and repeats it in funny ways). The Second one is in Hindi - it's about a Lion (which is why she's talking in a funny voice) :) haha! It makes me laugh! (oh, and ignore the runny nose in this video - she's battling a cold :))
